COLLECTIVE AGREEMENTS
In an article entitled Collective Bargaining, I described the system by which trade unions negotiate with employers and agree to terms and conditions of employment. The outcome of collective bargaining is the signing of a collective agreement, which is a legally enforceable document lasting for 3 or more years. In this article, I will list and compare the key benefits provided in current collective agreements (CA) of 4 different companies.

Human resource practitioners need to monitor the wages and benefits paid to workers in similar industries and similar locations. Should a company's wages and benefits package seriously lag behind the norms in their industry, high turnover of workers can be expected. Collective agreements can be viewed on the website of the Industrial Court (www.mp.gov.my). The comparison of benefits in the following tables only outlines the main terms provided in the respective CAs. Readers are recommended to carry out their own comparison on companies in their industry.
