FORTHCOMING CHANGES IN THE EMPLOYMENT LAWS
Recent Changes to the Employment Laws
The years 2012 to 2014 have seen a number of changes
and amendments to the employment laws. Major changes
include the introduction of two important pieces of
legislation, the Minimum Retirement Age Act 2012 and the
implementation of the Wages Orders based on the National
Wages Councils Act 2011. These two laws for the first
time in Malaysian labour history have established a
statutory minimum age of retirement in the private
sector and a minimum wage which must be paid to all
employees.
