Here we are! For some, the new year revelry may still be going strong, but let’s face it. We are firmly and happily in 2015! After the grim challenges that our nation and countless others have endured in 2014, many people have really been looking forward to a new year and a new beginning. Each of us may have a different outlook for 2015 as day one, back to work, looms perilously close. EPF online withdrawal facility for housing loans (The Star, Malaysia)
Employees Provident Fund (EPF) contributors who have housing loans with Maybank or RHB Bank now have the option of submitting their EPF withdrawal applications online. EPF contributors can use the e-Pengeluaran facility to apply for withdrawals to repay their monthly housing loan instalments or reduce or redeem their housing loan balance with these banks. However, this service is only applicable to contributors who have already made such withdrawals before.

Gender-wage bias still raging (The Star, Malaysia)
Men are still earning more than women in Malaysia for doing the same jobs, except in the construction industry and the wage gap between the sexes is widening. Men are earning an average of RM2,260 a month, compared with RM2,071 for women or a difference of 8.4%, according to the National Statistics Department’s Salaries and Wages Survey Report 2013. In 2012, men earned an average of RM2,083 a month, against RM1,912 for women, a variance of 8.2%.
